About Us

ERI is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to finding a solution to Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). CWD is similar to Mad Cow Disease and is devastating our cervid populations. We believe, with the unique characteristics of CWD, natural genetic resistance offers the most promising long term solution to this disease. Located in the heart of deer and elk country, just fifteen miles west of Durango, Colorado, we maintain approximately 1500 acres of prime elk habitat. Our quality breeding program is producing some of the most superior elk in North America. The herd and environment are never exposed to CWD and we have maintained an excellent health record for over ten years.

We support ethical hunting as the most humane and reasonable way to control our numbers, sex ratios, and genetic balance. This offers hunters an ideal situation to have a great experience, a successful hunt, and take home a healthy animal while helping preserve the future of our wildlife.
